Clinical Trials: Ocata Therapeutics (ACT) - Stem Cell Therapy

Most rare diseases such as Stargardt's presently have no treatments available. So its very exciting that there are a few clinical trials taking place investigating potential treatments.

Last month (October 2014) in The Lancet, Ocata Therapeutics (Formerly Advanced Cell Technology) published their preliminary phase 1 clinical data for their Stem Cell therapy trials for Stargardt's Macular Dystrophy (SMD) and Age Related Macular Degeneration (AMD).

I decided to post about the Ocata preliminary data first. I will discuss the other two trials (Oxford BioMedica and Alkeus Pharmaceuticals) when that information is released.

In the video I discuss the safety findings of the stem cell therapy and the encouraging efficacy data. The links to The Lancet article and other items mentioned are below the video.
